Tesco 'Bags of Help' project completed

A new park bench and heritage information board have recently been installed in Eastfield Park. The project was managed by the Friends of Eastfield Park (FoEP) and funded through the Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ scheme, with additional financial support from Councillor Paul Joyce’s Community Empowerment Fund.
The bench and board were installed near the north-east corner of the park on 24th and 25th February 2021 by members of NBC's Park Ranger Team. Both bench and board were positioned to give a clear view over a large part of the park.
FoEP Chair, Vic Smith, comments: “We are extremely grateful to Tesco for providing funding for this project, and to Councillor Joyce for supplying extra assistance to complete the project on time.  We are also impressed by the skills of the Ranger Team in installing the equipment at no cost to the FoEP. The bench provides a useful resting point, particularly for those walking along Apple Tree Walk and Cedar Walk from the Kettering Road to Greenfield Avenue. The heritage board provides information about aspects of the park’s history that many residents are unaware of. We hope that park users will benefit greatly from these additions to the park.”
