NEWS
AGM & PUBLIC TALK
The FoEP AGM on 17th February was preceded by a public talk, 'Where have they gone?', given by Vic Smith. The talk considered the fate of the statue that once stood on the plinth at the centre of the Bullring in Eastfield Park, and the spring water that once flowed through the series of ponds and on to the lake.

During the talk, Vic announced that he had discoverd the name of the French artist who had first designed the statue, probably in bronze. He concluded that it was crafted by Charles Théodore Perron (1862-1934) and cast at the Val d'Osne foundry in France. It was made of cast iron and Manfield would have chosen it from a catalogue of works.

Another copy of the statue still exists at the front of a house in Linas (25 kilometers south of Paris). Perron called the statue 'Surprise' or 'Le Gaulois'.

More information will be published on Facebook and on this website on the page dedicated to the Bullring Statue.
New Committee Members
This year, Colin Bricher, Paul Joyce, Carole Morrison, and Vic Smith had to stand down from the committee, having completed three years as elected members. Colin, Carole and Vic stood for re-election and were voted in for a further three years at the AGM in February. Paul decided not to stand.
At the AGM, Mike Poole was elected unanimously as a new committee member, to serve for three years.

Committee members are expected to attend meetings if possible but they do not have to volunteer for work in the park or other duties.
